If you know me, you know I like taking pictures. It’s art to me, after all. My family might call it an obsession, but I prefer the word “hobby.”
So I did a Google of interesting places to take pictures in the Twin Cities of Minnesota and, sure enough, Hot Sam’s showed up. Well, I saw a picture of an old motorcycle from the Batman TV show (Adam West version) and I was hooked.
Bobbie “Jake” Hood, Kathy Sakry and their dog Alley-Oop are the keepers of Hot Sam’s, a 10-acre antique junk yard along I-35 in Lakeville with many oddities.
They say Jake is passionate about renewing discarded things, and you won’t believe the number of things he’s got on their 10-acre lot. For example, they’ve got a giant, 24-foot guitar that was built out of an old hot tub that came from the Vikings training camp.
I loved the old train cars and the automobiles, but there might be a little something for everyone.
Hot Sam’s has gained a lot of popularity as a place for professional photographers to take pictures of their subjects in some pretty unusual places. I think the vehicles that look like they came straight from a Jurassic Park movie set would make a GREAT backdrop.
They had an old airplane that looked as though it wouldn’t take a lot to get it ready for a takeoff.
And you had to feel a little sorry for this guy?
I love a good UFO movie, and they evidently do too?
Here’s a few more pics. I’ll have more to come soon
And there was a unique fixer-upper or two there as well?
And if you were a Star Wars fan from way back, like me?
